Carver Yachts – New Designs with Attention to Tradition

By: Captain Dick Nocenti*

Creating an exciting new line of mid-sized family cruising yachts requires a team of people who bring their enthusiasm, passion, ideas and skills to the project. And, an effective team needs an experienced leader. The Carver Design team is led by Josh Delforge, Carver’s Director of Design Engineering who has been with the company since 2004.

Josh holds degrees in Engineering Mechanics, Physics and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.  The combination of these degrees gives him a unique and valuable perspective that combines design and engineering together with a strong customer centric purpose.

“The goal is to design yachts with a specific application and group of future owner’s needs at the top of the priority list,” stated Deforge.  “These new Carvers are very distinguished vessels that represent a renewed way of delivering the critical elements that have made Carver the preferred brand of family cruising yachts.”

The all new line of Carver Yachts are special and are being developed by a total in-house team of highly experienced designers, systems engineers, industrial engineers, naval architects and interior stylists. Their first project is the dynamic new 34’ Carver that reinforces the brand promise established by the company for nearly 60 years.  The yacht has a striking profile combined with exceptional functionality, durability and impressive utilization of space.  The 34’ is an entirely new yacht from the keel up.

Launching the New Generation of Carver – A Very Bright Future

By: Captain Dick Nocenti*

Earlier this year, Carver launched a long range initiative to design and build their new generation of Carver Yachts.  Since the 1950’s, the Carver brand has been focused on designing and building highly functional, quality boats used for family recreation.  This spirit continues into the future with the development of the new generation Carvers.

The process began about a year ago when the design team at Carver was given the directive to create an all new line of mainstream family-centric yachts, centered on the core elements of what has made the Carver brand so appealing for nearly 60 years.  The foundation for the Carver brand is based upon exceptional use of interior space, supreme functionality, longstanding quality, and exceptional value as compared to other offerings.  Josh Deforge, Carver’s Director of Design Engineering and his team used these brand attributes to draw up a series of new generation Carvers.  This design plan was presented to the company’s owners, executives and select stakeholders at the 2012 Miami International Boat Show.  The response was so enthusiastic that the Carver Design team was given the go ahead with the project and instructed to ‘make it happen’.

To protect the sanctity of the brand the decision was made to utilize an in-house team to design, style and engineer the new Carver line.  The results of this decision ensure that each new model, beginning with a 34’ bridge style, twin inboard powered yacht, will fulfill the longstanding Carver brand promise. The company’s current development plan calls for the first new generation Carver to be introduced at the 2013 New York Boat Show.

“Customer and dealer response has been overwhelming when hearing that Carver is making a serious and long term commitment to the line,” stated Josh Delforge.  “The enthusiasm and idea flow within the walls of our design center is running at a high level. The new Carvers we are creating will reflect a very forward thinking new line of yachts that proudly carry the Carver name.”

Carver 54 Voyager – A Yacht Built to Last

Carver Yachts 54 VoyagerThe newest Carver design, the 54 Voyager is a yacht meant for going places. It’s a long range cruiser built to brave the elements while providing its passengers with safety, comfort, privacy and storage capacity for extended periods.

Proof that the 54 Voyager is fulfilling its design purpose was validated by a recent purchase of a 54 Voyager at the Miami Boat Show. The new owner knew after his initial walk through that the 54 Voyager was the yacht he was looking for.

The exterior lines of the 54 Voyager are rooted in traditional pilot house functionality with modern lamination processes used to create contemporary yacht design style lines. While this particular boat’s hull was finished in copper metal flake, the Carver Yacht yard offers many different hull colors and hull finishes.

The new Carver 54 Voyager is backed by more than 58 years of Carver’s experience building the most enduring vessels afloat. You’ll see this particular Voyager cruising the Florida coast with a boat load of happy, comfortable people on board.

Carver Yachts Announces World Debut of New 54V at Weekend Boat Shows

September 21, 2011 Pulaski, Wisconsin – Carver Yachts has just announced the unveiling of their newest yacht, the 54 Voyager. This exciting new model will make its first appearance this weekend on both East and West Coasts of the United States in quite an impressive manner.

The new model will be debuted at the Norwalk Boat Show (Norwalk, CT) on the East Coast and the Lido Boat Show (Newport Beach, CA) on the West Coast.

“This new yacht design has been highly anticipated by our customers and dealers. Our company is very proud of the achievement in style, innovation and accommodations on this boat. We believe it is important to launch the new model in a grand fashion to our valued customers”, stated Carver Yachts president, Robert VanGrunsven.

For more than 58 years, Carver has been designing high quality yachts known for their comfortable and spacious accommodations and superior construction. In a time when new product development has been limited for many companies, Carver has taken an aggressive, proactive approach by developing and introducing several newly designed models. These new models illustrate Carver’s continued commitment to delivering luxurious yet functionally designed yachts at an exceptional value in today’s marketplace.

“Boaters are always interested in new designs. A company has to have confidence and part of that confidence comes from the willingness to invest company resources into new products. Without new and exciting, customers will not have a reason to consider buying their family a new boat,” said VanGrunsven.

The 54V holds true to the classic command bridge Voyager series that has been remarkably successful for the company. The design focuses exclusively on space, layout, function, long range cruising and efficiency. The 54V offers exceptional overnight and entertaining accommodations and timeless design for an extraordinary value. The innovative design incorporates Carver’s increased long range cruising efficiency supported by a state-of-the-art joystick control and maneuvering system. This new technology integrates the main engines with a thruster system allowing the operator to dock or maneuver in close quarters with confidence, conviction and peace of mind.

“Our customers are demanding space for entertaining and enjoying their families – a yacht that can be used to vacation, spend leisure time and create long lasting memories. Our mission is to provide this experience in an exceptional and value based way,” states VanGrunsven. “In the end, people with a passion for the water and boating will always be present. However, we recognize that for some families, a more economical option needs to exist. An option that is sexy in design, content and price.”

The 54V is an exciting new product with incredible value supported by attentive customer service and aftermarket support.
